Visit Falsterbo

Right on the very tip peninsula of the peninsula – lies the quite brilliant Falsterbo. Dating back to 1909, it’s one of the few true links in Continental Europe; a spectacular layout so authentic that it would not look out of place on the Ayrshire coast or alongside the legendary links of Lancashire.

Nine holes were laid out around the towering lighthouse when the club was formed in 1909, with a local doctor called Gunner Bauer adding a further nine in 1930. Only two of the original nine remain, but after extensive renovation in the last decade, the course has been restored to the natural and harmonious layout envisaged by the good doctor. The closing holes are what really make the course so special with the par-four 17th and reachable par-five 18th flanked on one side by water and sand dunes on the other. If you want a truly authentic links experience, this is the place to come. Being located in a preservation area, it’s also one of the most serene, naturally beautiful places to visit and no trip to Skåne would be complete without a day here.

If you are planning to spend a few days in the region, Malmö is the obvious place to stay. It has a good selection of hotels to suit every budget and plenty of bars, restaurants and varied nightlife. You also might want to consider the beautiful cathedral town of Lund, with its ancient cobbled streets and atmospheric squares. Both places are perfectly located in the heart of the Skåne region, allowing easy access to all of the top golf courses.
