Flamingos Golf Club’s palm tree-lined, par-71 course was designed by Antonio Garcia Garrido and also affords excellent sea views from its location close to the coast, between Estepona and Marbella. Although not long, at 6,249 yards, the course has several lakes to test your mettle, not least on the par-three 14th hole which is heavily guarded by water and demands accuracy to keep your ball dry. The front nine enjoys tighter fairways than the back nine, which does allow for the occasional wayward shot.
The adjacent, sister Gran Flamingo course, which opened in 2007, is the only par-73 course on the Costa del Sol and stretches to more than 7,200 yards off the back tees. Both are served by the grandiose Hotel Villa Padierna, which resembes a Tuscan palace.
