The Marriott’s Son Antem Golf Resort and Spa offers two courses and comfortable accommodation, with the West Course providing the best challenge.

The 142-room Marriott has eight suites and offers all you would expect from a modern golf and spa resort. There are three restaurants on site, with the El Olivar and El Patio restaurant offering classy Mediterranean cuisine and the more casual La Vista Verde serving up tapas, pizzas, burgers and pastas.

The Marriott resort also boasts one of the largest golf instructional programs in Europe, with PGA professionals offering tuition to all, from beginners to experienced golfers looking for fine tuning. And the extra tuition could come in handy as the West Course is a decent test of golf.

Although not up to the same standard as Son Muntaner, the 6,466-yard West Course of the Son Antem, which opened in 2001, is well worth playing.

Both of the 18-hole layouts were created by leading Spanish course designer Francisco López Segalés. Since 1990, he has designed courses in all the major resort areas of Spain. With Son Antem, Segalés produced courses suitable for professional golfers and tourists. Several European golf tournaments have been held here including the Audi Quattro Cup and the Mallorca Cup.

The fairways are tight and the gentle undulations will always give you plenty to think about as you approach the greens. Look out for the 18th hole; the par-four dog-leg is a fantastic closing hole with water running up the entire left-hand side and bunkers on the right.
