Courses:

6,187 yards, par 72

The Styrian course of Bad Waltersdorf is to the south, continuing on the A2 from Vienna. English designer Michael Pinner completed it in 2009 with excellent feeling for the existing landscape on a slight slope, mature walnut and apple trees a feature of its hilly landscape.

Its par-72, 6,187 yards are taxing enough for the lower-handicap player, but just as agreeably he has set the ladies’ tees nearly a kilometre shorter.

The adjacent Falkensteiner Hotel and Spa Bad Waltersdorf opened its state-of-the-art doors in spring 2009. Even the Romans would be agog at its thermal and swimming pools, several sauna cabins, and many varieties of massage and beauty treatments. Alpine, Adriatic and Styrian specialities are a feature of its cuisine.
